My friend Tyler is a big fan of snowboarding. Which is why, we are planning to surprise our friend on his birthday by arranging a trip to go snowboarding in South America. We are really positive that Tyler will die from happiness when he finds out his birthday gift. Which is why, we are really keeping it a secret from him because we really do not want to ruin his birthday surprise so that he will truly enjoy his snowboarding trip in South America. I just hope that he does not find out that we are planning to take him snowboarding in South America on his birthday, because Tyler is pretty good at finding out people’s secrets and he had managed to ruine three birthday surprises before his birthdays a few years ago. We really do not want that to happen again, because we really want to get him this time on his birthday by surprising him with a snowboarding trip to South America.

Saturday, January 28th, 2012A long time ago myself, my boyfriend at the time and two of my best friends went to a hotel in a small fishing village just outside the town we live in. They were advertising amazingly low prices in the local newspapers for a couple of weeks, so we decided that we would take them up on their offer and go stay over there the Saturday night. We took stuff for a braai, packed our bags and headed out. When we got there, the picture was nothing like the one in the ad, the bedding was old and the bathrooms were dirty. Needless to say, the next morning by seven o’clock we were out of there without having breakfast. Now, we are booked to go to the hartbeespoort lodges and I sincerely hope that the same does not happen here. The place we stayed at that night did not even have credit card facilities and we had to drive to the next town to go draw money to pay for our rooms.

Besides, I am blessed with a European passport so there is no hurry for me, I can travel for as long as I want at any pace that I want without having to get out of Europe.
But how many countries are there really in Europe? It seems as if Europe is a rather lose definition.
When you search online for an answer, you get many different replies. It all depends who you ask, really.
Some people like to include Azerbaijan, a country which I was never brought up to believe included Europe.
And yet, they themselves often think that they are Europeans, and who is to tell them wrong, they might be completely right.
That is what is so fascinating about Europe, how different the countries included are.
Not only do we speak completely different languages, but the culture, the way we look, the traditions, the nature and the food is all different depending on where you go.
When you travel by train it may sometimes be difficult to tell the cultures apart as the neighboring countries have been influenced by each other, like the Balkan countries in particular as they actually used to be one whole country.
But if you were to fly from Belgrade to Paris and from Paris to Oslo you would notice a big difference.
My favorite places in Europe so far are hard to define, as I like them all in different ways.
